Welcome to The Best Lack All Conviction Blog

This blog is not about anything other than the things I want to write about.
For a long time this blog tried to be about darts and may yet again talk about darts
but for now it is about whatever suits my fancy.
If that entertains, engages or inspires you, then I guess we are in good company.

My sister also has a blog that is written by her pet border collie
.
Callum the Border Collie ands his Autistic Human

Please follow her page and show her some support.  She has been having a tough time living alone since our mother passed from cancer.

Darts: The Beginning of a New AgeĀ

Well, my first game has come and gone in my first full season of darts, playing alongside the friends who brought me into the world of darts in the first place.
It was also my wife Rebecca's first league game of any type! (In fact she has only been playing darts  a few weeks, for which she has put in a ton of practice time!)
I ended up with a fairly satisfying record on the night of 2 wins and 1 loss, taking a win in doubles 501 (along with my wife who was my partner) a win in singles 501 and then finally getting beaten in doubles cricket (I was the weaker partner in that too).
The funny thing with the wins though, was that I actually shot fairly poorly but simply managed to hit the doubles for the outs.  This I think I can give credit to Flight School for, so for sure check it out from the links at the top of the page!
Overall, not a bad first night.   So, of course what I do the next day is quit the team.  No, don't worry, I am not quitting darts.  Far from it in fact.  It just wasn't the team for us.  A fun and great bunch of friends, but staying would have killed darts for me.
Not to despair, they will survive without my wife and I quite ably, and so we are off to a new team (and league) on Tuesday nights and will also be starting up in a Thursday league  which will be interesting as that is a work night, so maybe a bit of an experiment into completely sober darts.

I am still so new to all of this, but very much still learning.  I feel that a new plateau is just around the corner, but that I need to let it come.  I think I can, and I think I can have a good time getting there.

If there is darts in your area I recommend checking it out for sure!  If you are in or around Toronto like I am, one place you might want to check out is torontodarts.com which has a listing of leagues you can join.
In fact I think once I post this I'll give them a perma-link at the top of the page.

See you all next time!  Happy darting!!
