Welcome to The Best Lack All Conviction BlogThis blog is not about anything other than the things I want to write about.
For a long time this blog tried to be about darts and may yet again talk about darts but for now it is about whatever suits my fancy. If that entertains, engages or inspires you, then I guess we are in good company. My sister also has a blog that is written by her pet border collie . Callum the Border Collie ands his Autistic Human Please follow her page and show her some support. She has been having a tough time living alone since our mother passed from cancer. |
Well first of all, I have to say that I have been getting a great response to my new darting nick-name of 'The Prophecy. All good fun!
I have had some disappointments with my plans to play in more and bigger tournaments however, as I was forced to miss the 'Marion Carli Memorial' tournament, due to being in the hospital. You see, I had something called 'transverse myletis' that caused damage to my spinal chord and removed my ability to move my foot (or walk). With treatment I was eventually able to walk using a walker, and know can get around OK with just a cane. Sadly, I will very likely be disabled for the rest of my life. I am just thankful that my arm still works and it is in my left leg, not the right, which means I can still play darts. As far as playing tournaments goes, I had planned on going to Kingston in August, but seems that it is now cancelled due to the North American PDC qualifier happening in Vegas. This leaves the Kitchener tournament as my next option. Of course being off work in the meantime, this means that this endeavour is almost entirely being funded by my wife, which is very nice of her, but seems to me she could spend (her also very limited money), on herself. I guess I should just shut up and appreciate it,right? I thought about starting a 'go fund me' campaign but well .. 1. There are a zillion better and equally if not more dedicated players more worthy of support. 2. I think people will give to cute baby with brain tumor over middle aged dart player every time. Overall though, the darts have been going well, and might be creeping up on a new plateau. I had a week break from darts while in the hospital and I think that it was good for me. I also think having the scare that I might not be able to play again (because , you know not walking at all is just a secondary concern) has maybe also helped me focus, but also focus on the enjoyment and not getting so frustrated with myself. Although I still really don't like team darts I am playing on a team now. We are dead last in our division (with two matches to go) but overall it has been a decent run for me. I have a decent record in my singles games and have done so against some challenging opponents. If nothing else, it keeps me playing until I am able to take part in tournaments, and I am happy to be helping the team, who are all friends. Anne Sleepy Kramer Blog Update Just a quick update to let you all know that Anne Kramer's blog is now called 'OcheBuzz' Check it out here: OcheBuzz by Anne Kramer Anne is a great source of darts articles and information, so be sure to check it out! Thank you, as always for taking the time to read. I am really hoping to have more, and more interesting things to talk about as I finally do start to play in some of the bigger tournaments. I am hoping to meet a lot of interesting people, and learn more about myself as a person and dart player. Really looking forward to the challenge!
